  • Understand the importance of software packaging in integrating a distribution
  • Understand the key principles offered by distributions to streamline software integration
  • Be able to package your own applications while complying with the policies set by distributions

Prerequisites

To follow this course effectively, trainees must have:
  • Command-line proficiency: Use of commands such as ls, cd, mkdir, rm, etc.
  • Understanding of the file system hierarchy: Directory structure, file permissions.
  • Basic programming knowledge: Concepts of variables, loops, conditions, etc., notably with languages such as Bash or C.
  • Compilation knowledge: Understanding compilation and linking processes, and the associated tools (make, gcc, etc.).
